October 2021 - The Village Voice

What if we knew we did not have to get it right the first time? Or even better, what if there was no concept of getting it right? Imagine what this would do to our bodies, minds, and spirits! Instead of feeling like we crash and burn upon our entry into parenthood, maybe we would feel open, eager, and brave. We would likely be less saddled with feelings of urgency and worry, always evaluating our skill, efficiency, and precision. Instead we could listen to our in

uition, give things a try, and be present to allow ourselves space to learn. This is one of the greatest gifts stolen by our culture of toxic perfectionism. Time to grown and learn. Parenthood is in its truest form all about growth and expansion. So why not allow ourselves the space to participate instead of control, learn instead of critique, and love instead of shame? As we head into our second year of newsletters, groups online, and growth as a collective, we too are trying to remember that we don't have to get it right. Not the first time, and not ever. We just have to try. Our September off allowed us to reflect on the past year and look to the future with compassion, non-judgement, and respect. We are all doing the best we can! And so this October we recommit to you, the village circle, our participation, our learning, and our love! We can't wait to see you all again soon at our groups.

Updates & Opportunities

Groups through December 2021 Due to the ongoing presence of the Delta Variant and in the interest of keeping our families safe, we are going to stick to virtual groups for now. We will continue to run groups the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month. See section below for dates, times and our Zoom link!

To our Facebook Group Our group is ever-expanding (all the happy feels!), and so we want to remind FB users to take a peek and (re)familiarize themselves with the "Group Rules". These stay pinned at the top of the page. As facilitators, we check and approve/decline /give feedback to every post, so thank you for your patience as we strive to maintain the balance and safety of this platform. And as always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions on creating a post, or why a post may have been declined. Our FB group has truly become an extension of the sacred beauty that is the Village Circle. We want to share our overwhelming gratitude for all of you. Thank you for continuing to support wholly, love fiercely, and share deeply. Reading this newsletter and not a member of our FB group? As long as you have attended at least 1 Village Circle Group session you can join!

Peer Support Recruitment Are you a mama interested in helping others by becoming a peer support? The Whatcom County Perinatal Mental Health Task Force is recruiting for two grant funded projects to bring more peer support to mamas in Whatcom County. Training and funding are included for these positions! Click here for info. Village Circle Testimonials Would you be willing share what the Village Circle has meant to you? We are collecting comments and testimonials over the next couple of weeks as we get ready to launch a new Village Circle Website! Big shout out to Dani for taking on this project. She has created a beautiful site that we hope can help other mama's find us easier. All it is missing is hearing from you, our Village! Coming in October!

On our minds: Fatigue. Did any of us think we could ever get more tired? The mental load of parenting under the weight of navigating a pandemic with ever changing rules is more than any of us were meant to handle. This month we want to make some time to talk about what it really feels like to be tired. What does exhaustion feel like in our bodies? What is fatiguing us the most? How do we cope? Can we thrive despite fatigue? Our culture rewards business, what happens if we chose not to do something? There is so much to unpack about this single topic. We hope you can join us to explore it all. Our collective stories make space for all of us, free from judgement, shame, and guilt. Ongoing Virtual Groups: Join us for an opportunity to center yourself, recharge, and connect with one of our virtual groups! October groups: Thursday October 7th, 10am-11:30am

Thursday October 21st, 1:30pm-3:00pm Zoom link for all groups: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/756780417

We celebrate you, your story, and our time together.

In warmth, ~The Village Circle Collective~
